BENJAMIN HOWARD
the studio
We are very happy with Benjamin Howard's method of teaching, which effectively caters to all age groups. Under his expert guidance, our son Rishab was able to master complex classical pieces and arias, showing significant progress that led to his qualification for the interstate choir. We highly recommend Benjamin to any student or parent looking for an exceptional music teacher. - Rahul N, Texas

WELCOME TO THE STUDIO
teaching philosophy, offerings & experience
During my graduate studies at the University of North Texas, I had the pleasure of teaching voice and piano to students of all ages at the Dallas Music Academy, Castle Hills Music Academy, and privately across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Utilizing my vocal pedagogy coursework from my masters’, and also undergraduate studies at Northwestern University, I have worked many summers as a teaching artist, music director, and assistant director for youth musical theatre camps in Los Angeles and Chicago.
Now working full-time as a professional singer in New York City, I have a large and colorful set of experiences that have nurtured my artistry and allowed my musicianship to excel. I would love to share my insights, techniques, tips, and tricks with you! Sight-singing, music reading, vocal technique, and audition/performance prep at any age or level. In-person in the Greater NYC Area or remote is available.
I am currently in my 5th season as a member of the Saint Thomas Choir of Men & Boys, and have a unique schedule of five services plus one rehearsal a week throughout the academic calendar. A new day means new music, literally! Every program is different. How do we learn so quickly? Sight-singing, music reading, and preparation all have to be executed at the highest level! I have learned that these skills are crucial in order to be a reliable, working singer wherever you live.
For me, full-time singing means simultaneously preparing three world premiere operas within a nine-month period(!), solo performances with the Westchester Oratorio Society and NY Baroque Incorporated, touring with groups such as the Grammy-nominated Clarion Choir and Fourth Wall Ensemble, and private studies on my own, working with tenor and instructor Neal Harrelson. The learning never stops, so let’s get started! And our first 30 minutes is on me.
